I quit when I didn’t have the time to play and practice consistently..it’s no fun to shoot 85-90 when you’ve been a 5-8 handicap. It’s why I don’t play member championships. But I’m about to make a comeback.

This is exactly where I’m at!!  Folks think you’re being a jerk saying that.   It’s not a brag…it’s just not fun to go from shooting 72-75 on a good day and 82 on a bad day to struggling to break 90.

Golf is the only game that is less enjoyable to play the better you get at it.  A hacker like me would buy everyone at the club a round of drinks if I shot a 99.  A 3 handicap golfer who shoots an 80 goes home and kicks the dog and yells at his wife and kids.

I quit when shoulder problems drastically shortened my drives ( from about 275 to well under 200) and it hurt like the dickins when I took a full swing. Still have a nice set of Hogan Edge Irons and assorted Metalwoods in the basement that haven't been used except for the putter for about 15 years.

Kept hoping shoulder would heal, but it never has.
