Junkyard Blog says confidence still high for 2026 Dawgs.

Era of constant change

Gunner Stockton returns at quarterback, Nate Frazier is back as lead running back, likewise tight end Lawson Luckie and center Drew Bobo will anchor a somewhat reworked offensive line.

Defense is expected to be a strong suit of the Dawgs, with Raylen Wilson, KJ Bolden, Ellis Robinson, Gabe Harris, Chris Cole, Justin Williams and Elijah Griffin among the returning players.

With all that in mind, USA Today’s early preseason Top 25 ranks Georgia No. 3, while ESPN’s “way too early” ranking has UGA at No. 4

And Georgia is considered the consensus favorite to win a third consecutive SEC Championship.

The 2026 schedule opens with a couple of cupcakes in Tennessee State and Western Kentucky. It features home games with Oklahoma, the resurgent Vanderbilt, Auburn, Missouri and Georgia Tech, plus Florida in Atlanta. Road trips will see the Dawgs visit Arkansas, Bama, Ole Miss and South Carolina.

And Georgia again is considered a favorite to make the College Football Playoff (predicted to be as high as the No. 2 seed). The playoff will remain at 12 teams this coming season.
