Did anyone think he’d get an invite anyway?

He's better off not going to NY, Athens and Rabun County is so much better ......

Gunner doesn't have the gaudy numbers and long bomb td pass highlight reel to really be a Hypesman contender. SEC defenses today are too good for qbs to pile up huge numbers. B1G and Big XII defenses are much easier to rack up yards and tds on.

Here's some numbers against the finalists:
Passing Against Power 4 Teams Stockton (6 games) 117-158 (.741), 196.3 ypg, 15 TD, 2 INT Sayin (6 games) 117-157 (.745), 219.5 ypg, 12 TD, 2 INT Mendoza (4 games) 69-100 (.690), 234.5 ypg, 9 TD, 3 INT Pavia (5 games) 90-142 (.634), 224.0 ypg., 6 TD, 4 INT Rushing against Power 4 Teams Stockton 62 carries, 219 yards, 3 TDs Sayin 20 carries (-3) yards, 0 TDs Mendoza 26 carries, 58 yards, 0 TDs Pavia 71 carries, 372 yards, 5 TDs W-L vs. CFP Top 25 Teams Stockton 4-1 - L, 24-21 vs. Alabama - W, 43-35 vs. Ole Miss - W, 35-10 vs. Texas - W 16-9 vs. Georgia Tech - W 28-7 vs. Alabama Sayin 2-1 - W, 14-7 vs. Texas - W, 27-9 vs. Michigan - L, 13-10 vs. Indiana Mendoza 2-0 - W, 30-20 vs. Oregon - W, 13-10 vs. Ohio State Pavia 0-2 - L, 30-14 vs. Alabama - L, 34-31 vs. Texas Stockton looks pretty good with these guys. But, I'm kinda glad he's not one of the finalists. Historically, I feel like the winner typically doesn't go on to do much in the CFP or BCS or MNT games. The others, well, they have a chip on their shoulders. One could also argue that the talent level around these guys vs. their rates of success are a huge factor. In that case, I think he looks better than Sayin, but not better than Mendoza or Pavia. Also, the preseason talk about Gunner just being a servicable qb means he never had a chance at being on the final ballots of most voters.

A stat not considered, what is the rushing ypg by the rb? That is taking away from passing and qb rushing. I would guess SEC focuses more on running than big 10.

Top RB Yardage from each: UGA Frazier 861 avg 5.4 OSU Jackson 1035 avg 6.2 VAN Alexander 560 avg 5.5 IND Hembry 918 avg 5.2 If anything, that points to my argument about surrounding talent and Pavia.

He absolutely deserves to be there. Hasn’t gotten the hype others have for a number of reasons.
If we sign the WR I think we will sign, he will be there next year and maybe a front runner.

Like I said above, he doesn't have the highlight film long bomb throws the media loves. He does what he needs to do to win the game and sometimes, that isn't flashy. I wouldn't trade him for any QB on any other team.
