ATHENS, Ga. — Five Saturday home dates and five games at Stegeman Coliseum against 2026 NCAA Tournament teams headline the Georgia Bulldogs' 2026-27 Southeastern Conference men's basketball schedule, which was released by the league office on Monday morning. The NCAA tourney teams the Bulldogs will host at Stegeman Coliseum include Texas on Jan. 5-6, Florida on Jan. 23, Vanderbilt on Feb. 9-10, Kentucky on Feb. 16-17 and Missouri on Feb. 27. Georgia's remaining home contests include Oklahoma on Jan. 12-13, Mississippi State on Jan. 16, LSU on Jan. 30 and South Carolina in the regular-season finale on March 6. The Bulldogs open league play by traveling to Ole Miss on Saturday, Jan. 2 and also will venture to Auburn on Jan. 9, Arkansas on Jan. 19-20, Tennessee on Feb. 2-3, South Carolina on Feb. 6, Texas A&M on Feb. 13, Florida on Feb. 20, Oklahoma on Feb. 23-24 and Alabama on March 2-3. All told, 11 of the Bulldogs' 18 SEC games will be against teams which earned bids to "March Madness" last spring. Georgia defeated three of the four SEC teams which reached last season's "Sweet 16" – Alabama, Arkansas and Texas – and lost to the fourth – Tennessee – in overtime. In addition to the NCAA tourney squads, Auburn won the NIT and Oklahoma was the runner-up in the College Basketball Crown tourney.

Georgia's Director of Men's and Women's Track and Field doesn't just expect her student-athletes to give their best efforts every day in training or in meets, she also wants and expects them to excel in the classroom."Yes, very much — even more so," said Smith Gilbert, whose women's team has won three straight NCAA titles (2025 and '26 Outdoor, '26 Indoor) while the men's team placed second at this year's Outdoor meet in June. On top of all of that on-the-track success, Georgia's women's and men's teams did something this year that made her just as happy: they earned the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's National Scholar Team of the Year honors. Along with the men's and women's teams earning National Scholar Team of the Year awards, 15 women and 15 men received All-Academic honors. Teams had to have at least a 3.0 GPA to receive the award, while the student-athletes had to have a GPA of 3.25 or better and be among the top performers in the country in their events.

Smith Gilbert was in New York over the weekend for the USATF Outdoor Championships, where multiple former Bulldogs shined: Aaliyah Butler won the women's 400-meter title. In the decathlon, Garrett Scantling won the title and Kyle Garland placed second. In the men's javelin, Jordan Davis placed second and Marc Minichello was third. Kaila Jackson, who wrapped up her Georgia career in June, placed sixth in the 200 meters and placed seventh in the 100, one spot ahead of teammate Jassani Carter.
