Had an unwelcome visitor this afternoon...
#1
This Copperhead was under a Nandina Bush at the side of the house next to the gate going into back yard
A juvenile about 14" or 15" long.  Son spotted it as he came to pick up his daughter and removed its head with a shovel.
We gave him the body to feed to his chickens.
With the weather getting hot, snakes will be active.  This is the first Copperhead I've seen on our property in well over a decade.  Non-venomous snakes I just relocate, but with 2 cats, a small dog and a granddaughter playing in my yard the venomous ones get the death penalty.

My dog was bitten. Y a copperhead in late February during a warmup. Killed several copperheads over the last few years. Dog did fine after a swollen few weeks.
