I posted this exact same thought on another message board responding to a post about the SEC being embarrassed this year in post season play. The times are not changing, the times have changed. Some of us saw this coming a few years ago when NIL payments were first being talked about.
A professional football league with no salary cap and unlimited free agency means whoever has the most money is going to be at the top.

It's survival of the richest at this point. It's kinda funny in some ways...the folks shouting from the rooftops about Title 9 were some of the same ones saying players should be paid. I don't think they thought it through. I still believe INdiana is a blip on the screen of CFB history. But, I guess we'll see.

I think Cignetti is a very good coach and as long as Cuban will keep throwing money at IU football, that combination will keep them relevant. Cignetti is 64 yrs old, he probably has 5 or so good years left. After he retires, who knows what will happen? Speaking of Title IX, I think the next big lawsuit/fight is going to be women demanding the same NIL money as men in college sports.

Angel Reese is a hero to many of these young ladies! I don't think they're going to have much success in that fight.

Texas/Oklahoma big oil is gonna be a player as well. Don’t know how many Silicon Valley tech types are interested in supporting their Alma mater, but some of those guys could definitely move the needle. Oregon has the full support of Nike. The state of Georgia’s two best known companies, CocaCola and Delta, aren’t gonna go all in supporting a college athletics department.

Do we have any that care enough? That Georgia Crown money only goes so far and Don Leeburn ain't a billionaire. Tom Cousins and Billy Payne are probably billionaires, but they are up there in age and probably don't care as much. The Cathy family is all billionaires, but none of them went to Georgia that I know of.

Billy Payne is wealthy but I don't think he is a billionaire. Leebern is dead too, let's hope his son is as generous as he was but they definitely aren't billionaires. That oil money is a well with no bottom. I'll start digging in the backyard and see if I come up with some oil.
