Woof ....

ATHENS, Ga.  - Georgia football has been missing their No. 1 wide receiver for nearly two months now. After fracturing his leg during Georgia’s win over Ole Miss in October, Colbie Young has been sidelined without a timeline for a return.

After this injury many believed Young could be out for the season, and since he was UGA’s leading receiver at the time this was about as bad as injury news could get for Georgia. Kirby Smart however shocked the entire fanbase earlier this week when he announced that Young could return for their playoff run.

”I think it would be a stretch, and we're so far off. I was not thinking of being able to get him back when the injury occurred in the initial timeline,” Smart said via 247sports.com. “There has been some optimism with his rehab and his recovery, but it was more for after the initial game if we were able to advance.”

Young was in store for a special season this year, but this injury ruined what was a promising start to his season. Georgia thankfully has been able to survive without Young in the lineup and even went on to win an SEC Championship, but there’s no denying how much better their offense could be with him on the field.

Smart didn’t guarantee that Young will be able to make a return this season. He did however say that there is some optimism that he could return either before or during the Bulldogs’ playoff run.

Georgia’s first playoff game isn’t until Jan. 1, so this gives him multiple weeks to continue his rehab. And while it may still seem like a long shot, Young coming back could be the thing that carries Georgia to their third National Championship under Smart.

Cool
