ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia junior ILB CJ Allen has been named one of five finalists for the 2025 Butkus Award, given annually to the nation's best linebacker. Allen, a native of Barnesville, Ga., is one of two players from the Southeastern Conference named a finalist for the award. The winner will be named by Dec. 10. Former Bulldog All-American and current Atlanta Falcon Jalon Walker won the 2024 honor while Nakobe Dean (2021) and Roquan Smith (2017) were Georgia's first two winners. There have been five other Bulldog finalists six different years in recent history, including Jamon Dumas-Johnson (2022), Monty Rice (2020), Leonard Floyd (2015), Jarvis Jones (2011, 2012) and Justin Houston (2010).
ATHENS, Ga. – Senior defender Cate Hardin and junior midfielder Kiera Staude were named to the 2025 Women's Soccer Academic All-District Team, as announced Tuesday afternoon by College Sports Communicators. For both Hardin and Staude, it is their second career Academic All-District honor (Hardin, 2023; Staude, 2024). The Bulldog program has now earned 27 AAD honors in its history.
ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia's Brett Thorson is one of three finalists for the Ray Guy Award given to the country's best punter, according to an announcement from the Augusta Sports Council Tuesday. Thorson, a native of Melbourne, Australia, joins Troy's Evan Crenshaw and Baylor's Palmer Williams as the three finalists. Thorson was also a finalist in 2024 and Jake Camarda was the last Bulldog finalist before Thorson in 2020. Former Georgia All-American Drew Butler won the 2009 honor.
ATHENS, Ga. – University of Georgia swimmer Kennedi Dobson was named Southeastern Conference Women's Freshman Swimmer of the Week, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the league office. Dobson continued the terrific start to her Georgia career with a great performance at the Georgia Fall Invitational, earning two individual wins and one relay victory.
