Just posted this on another site re: the NIL conversation…

Specifically related to Caleb Downs.

I think we are all watching the landscape evolve in real time. It’s the old “what we tolerate today will be the norm tomorrow”…and I’m not using that in an ethical or political sense. Just saying players on the college teams are going to have to get used to it the same way NFL guys do. (I hate it…but, it is what it is). The fact is, we are in the semi-pro world now and these guys are no longer college kids. (They are, but…). They’re paid pros that aren’t quite to the highest level of the sport.

This is a new age of college football.   I don’t think there’s going to be much of a balancing act going forward.   You’ve got to manage your salary cap (if there is one) and pay to get talent.

Nothing semi=pro about it. They're paid professionals.

Agree 100%.  Guess I meant it in the sense of “minor league” much like baseball.

Name, Image and Likeness was the death knell of the Dogs of Georgia's short lived dynasty.  We done got out bid on a lot of talent by Ohio State and Texas these past two years.  As long as Dogs win on 11/1/25 and 11/15/25 all will be right in my world.
