but why? Not near the pressure to win at Ole Miss. He has it made there.

He has it made at Ole Miss. Unless he is driven to win a championship, he would be crazy to leave Oxford.

Would suck to have to play him twice this year. back to Back games.

I believe he will take it if they offer. He was going to take the Auburn HC job but, his daughter goes to school at Auburn, and she vetoed that.

He has a daughter at Ole Miss now.  I talked to an Ole Miss student who is from Augusta yesterday.  He said Kiffen's daughter was good looking but a total bitch (he was kind, he said she is "not the nicest person"), very full of herself.

There was a show about Lane’s life last week, covered his childhood and his relationship with his Dad..had forgotten what a character Monty was…which explains a lot about Lane IMO…anyway, they covered the Auburn offer & said he was about to accept when his daughter convinced him to stay in Oxford, reason being he is reunited with his children and he and x-wife are raising them together there and the kids have expressed how much they like having their Dad more involved in their life really for the first time …the show made it sound like he will be staying in Oxford for a while yet, we’ll see…

Interesting. My son told me he had a daughter at Auburn and she didn't want him there. Makes total sense...your post.

I think he’s pretty settled but money talks.

Landry is at Ole Miss and dating Whit Weeks, son of former UGA lineman David weeks. Lane is happy in Oxford according to those I know on the ground there, but $$$$ and ego can make a man move on.

With Lane, I think it would be more ego driven if he moved.  He is making $8.75 million a year.  His lifestyle isn't going to change in any way if he makes $12 million a year.

I hear you, but also consider no state income tax in FL and Lane won’t need to recruit nearly as hard.

MS state income tax is 4.4% and being phased out by 2030, that isn't crimping his lifestyle.  Recruiting would be somewhat easier but he really likes the portal and there are 5 FBS schools in Florida along with Georgia, Clemson, Bama, South Carolina and others going into the state and only 2 FBS schools in MS.

UF donors would want a championship of some kind very quickly or the heat would turn up right away.  Ole Miss is very happy with being in the conversation to start the season.

Who knows?  I guess I don't have the ego that would push me to leave a high paying job where I was loved to go to a pressure cooker for a pay raise that wouldn't change my lifestyle.
