I don't think he's better than Gunner...but, let's assume he is for a second...he's not MUCH better. It would have prolonged the narrative and likely exaggerated it, that we can't develop a QB.
We would have to deal with the circus that Texas is dealing with now of...is he just not that good.
Not gonna lie, I wanted him bad. I really thought he was going to be something special...and not based on skill alone. I just thought he'd be a leader/winner...which is kinda what Gunner has become.
Arch may still turn out to be all that...the book isn't fully written on him yet. But, he's hearing the noise at Texas, would not shock me to see him transfer and play his senior year somewhere else. At the rate he's going, he's a UDFA to the NFL. Might as well see if he can put up some stats somewhere. We'll see.

I got caught up in wanting him too. That said, I remember reading more than a couple articles saying that if his name was Smith, he would be a three star and some of the teams he played against in HS looked like some sort of "Make a Wish" project.
If he had come here, I think we would have been dealing with an Eason 2.0 situation. He has the physical tools but he doesn't have that "it" factor.

That's exactly the thought I had in my mind and didn't say it...Eason 2.0.
At least Eason had all the physical tools. I'm not 100% sure Arch does. Maybe?

He's either hurt or has terrible mechanics and low pocket presence....maybe a little of all the above.

Arch is 6'4" and 220lbs, that seems to be about exactly what teams want in a QB physically.

A big bullet for sure was dodged..
And as far as Gunner, he’s done enough so far..I think we would be undefeated if Kirby had shown leadership vs Bama..take the points..it may or may not hurt us down the line..
