KNOXVILLE, Tn. - Southeastern Conference play begins this week for the Georgia Bulldogs with a pair of road matches. The Bulldogs travel to Knoxville for a matchup at No. 22 Tennessee on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Food City Center. It's then on to Lexington for a match at No. 3 Kentucky on Friday at 7 p.m. at Historic Memorial Coliseum. Georgia's conference home opener will be Wednesday, Oct. 1, when No. ## Texas comes to Athens. It will be the Longhorns' first-ever trip to Athens. The first 1,000 fans receive a red replica Georgia Volleyball jersey. First serve between the Bulldogs and Longhorns is set for 7 p.m. at Stegeman Coliseum. Georgia's 5-0 start matched 2022's 5-0 start (all sweeps), the last time Georgia had an undefeated beginning to the season through five matches. Should Georgia reach the 6-0 mark, it'll match 2018's start, Tom Black's second season in Athens.
ATHENS, GA.-----Sam Naeher has joined the University of Georgia baseball staff as the director of baseball operations, Ike Cousins head coach Wes Johnson announced Tuesday. Naeher, a 2025 UGA graduate in sport management and marketing, served as a student manager for the baseball program during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Prior to that, he worked with Olympic Sports Nutrition for the UGAAA from 2022-23. He will organize team travel, handle all equipment, as well as assist all members of the coaching staff in their day-to-day tasks. Additionally, he will direct camps, assist with on campus recruiting, special events and oversee the student managers and interns with the program.
ATHENS, Ga. – Week three of NFL action is complete, and several former Bulldogs had exceptional performances for their respective teams. Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis made his mark this past Sunday as he played hero in the Eagles win over the Los Angeles Rams. Davis blocked a would-be game winning field goal as time expired and then proceeded to recover the blocked kick and return it for a 61-yard touchdown, the first of his NFL career. His run made NFL history as he became the heaviest player to return a blocked kick over 50 yards for a touchdown (336 pounds). In addition to his blocked field goal, Davis added five tackles, one sack and a tackle for loss. Meanwhile, Matthew Stafford continued his climb up the NFL record books for quarterbacks as he threw his 382nd touchdown pass, moving him past Matt Ryan for ninth-most all time. Despite the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Stafford threw for 196 yards and two touchdowns. ATHENS, Ga. - Matias Reynaga started running when he was around 12, back in his hometown of Salta, Argentina. He never imagined where it would take him. Being here is just a great opportunity," said the Georgia cross country runner, a graduate transfer from California Baptist University. In his first meet for the Bulldogs at last month's Covered Bridge Classic in Boone, N.C., Reynaga ran a person-best time of 18:00 on the 6K course. He joined teammates Conner Rutherford and Ryan Olree in a tie for first as the Bulldogs swept the top six spots. Georgia's cross country teams are back in action Friday at the Seminole Invite in Tallahassee, Fla.
TULSA, Okla. – Senior Santiago Giamichelle advanced to the singles main draw of the ITA All-American Championships while also advancing to the doubles draw of the competition alongside graduate Derrick Chen on Tuesday. Now into the main draw, Santi Giamichelle is set to play No. 96 Dominique Rolland (UC Santa Barbara) in the round of 64 at 12:30 p.m. ET. More, No. 84 Chen/Giamichelle will take on Michigan State's Taym Alazmeh/Danial Rakhmatullayev in the opening round of the main draw at 4:30 p.m. ET.
CARY, N.C. — Freshman Deniz Dilek and senior Sofia Rojas powered through two rounds of qualifying matches in ITA All-Americans to earn spots in the main draw, each notching their third season-ranked singles victory along the way. No. 110 Patricija Paukstyte (UGA) def. No. 103 Kyoka Kubo (KU). No. 28 Aysegul Mert will make her ITA All-American debut in the main draw up against Wisconsin's No. 8 Maria Sholokhova at 9 a.m. No. 100 Sofia Rojas will compete against North Carolina's No. 43 Tatum Evans at 12:30 p.m. Lastly, Deniz Dilek will face Duke's No. 61 Shavit Kimchi for the second time this season at 1 p.m.
